La Snacks + Gonzo Sirens + Exploding Boy Toys

This show Featuring La Snacks, Gonzo Sirens and Exploding Boy Toys will actually be held at the former "Scout Bar" NOT The Hub.. The flier was from a drawing I did and never finished. I decided to turn it into this misinformed flier. ENJOY! You can RSVP on Facebook here.
6/7/2010 Star Bar
I was driving around today and I caught myself thinking about The Vortex. I remember sitting at the bar watching movies like "Zombie Strippers" and "Bad Taste" early in the evening before D.Clova took over the jukebox for the remaining hours. I know a lot of people are winding down from a long weekend at Free Press Summerfest and I myself am rather tired from a weekend of apartment rearranging due to loss of roommate. That being said, I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder, but tonight at Star Bar, I really just want to watch a movie and relax. This is not to say that I plan on doing this often or that there won't be music. As soon as the movie is over I'll play an old school D.A.N.C.E. Party style set focusing on indie, electro, and french music.
As for movies in the future, Ray Gregory has been hosting "Weird Movie Night" at The Hub on Sundays and Easy's has been showing a movie or two each month in its drive-in style theater (equipped with car seats). Basically, I want to give proper respect to those who are already showing movies in their venues and reiterate the fact that I do not plan on this becoming a regular Monday night thing, today just seemed like a good day for a movie.
You can find more information about Ray's "Weird Movie Night" on Facebook and I'm sure Gordon keeps everyone up to date on what is happening on the Easy's front.
I hope everyone had a great time at Summerfest and if you have any suggestions for a movie you'd rather see than "Evil Dead II" tonight, hit me up before I get out there...movie will start around 10is, music around midnight.
p.s. I was proofreading and it just hit me..."GUMMO" maybe?!?

I have often overheard people comment that I show preference to my friends’ bands. It's not that I eavesdrop, but when something is said enough, then you're gonna hear it...especially around this town. It is true that I have been friends with some people in the music scene a lot longer than others. The truth of the matter is these relationships do not effect my judgment in any way other than my being harder on my friends and their bands than others.
CtheDs @ Summer Fest

As with SXSW 2010 CtheDs is looking to stage itself (pun intended) at Free Press Summer Fest as a legitimate music media outlet. And why not? We have hosted, filmed, booked, or otherwise worked with at least 10 bands performing at this years event and we are always looking to add to that list.
Over the course of the last 365 I have come to notice that Houston is a very tight knit community when it comes to its music/arts scene. Many of the people involved tour/play/book as friends and not just ambitious artists. I'm happy to feel as though we here in Beaumont are being brought into the loop and not looked over. So many bands have played for us within the past few months and seen our scene and its potential. They have waited and waded through the seemingly transient search for a venue to call home. None of this has stopped them from coming back and making friends. It also hasn't stopped them from making us feel at home in Space City and for that we say thanks.
