GPS Confusion...
Feels great to be back in Texas - Florida is just a large-scale skin condition. That being said, when I got to work today my co-worker, Andrew, pointed out this inconsistency:
CORLEY:

CORELY???

If you take a good look you'll realize that the traffic signal rides the 3500-3600 blocks of "Corley" while the stop sign is on the corner of the 3700 block of "Corely." That means these signs are consecutive... literally a block apart from one another?!? Nice "Welcome Back" to the state/city that I love. I'm in no way complaining, just appreciating the idiosyncrasies that add to the mystique of my beloved home.

A Weekend of Live Music
This weekend begins a little early on a Thursday with 3 great local shows featuring some of the (409)'s best.
THURSDAY - AUG. 5
MUSIC JUNKIE PRESENTS: BEST OF BEAUMONT @ EASYS
w/ Exploding Boy Toys, The Shammies, The Ramblin' Boys of Pleasure and The Amorist
I've had the pleasure of seeing three of these bands perform live last month and I couldn't be more excited about this particular line-up. With this many local favorites playing, how could this not be the place to be on a Thursday night? The show starts around 9:30pm at Easy's Tapas and Martinis and will surely be packed out, so get there a little early to secure a seat and be sure and tip your bartender.

"Hey Man. Check these guys out" - AIR REVIEW

"Hey man. Check these guys out."
It seems like every other day friends, musicians, promoters, and critics alike are shoving album after album, act after act, into our hands proclaiming "this band" to be the greatest thing the world has ever had the pleasure of hearing on a purple backed CD-R smeared with sharpie marker. I would venture to say that on any given day, I'm presented with a minimum of 5 bands or artists to "check out". While most of these artists are "checked off" my list of worthwhile and innovative tunes (See what I did there? - Made a clever pun while also making myself out to be a complete know-it-all hipster jackass), ever so often a band stands out and really catches my attention. I want to make it my own personal initiative to take some time each month to review a great Texas based unsigned act, and respectfully play the role of the know-it-all hipster jackass who heads your way at a local show with a bottle of Lone Star in one hand and a "purple backed CD-R" in the other and say, "Hey man. Check these guys out."
