Jay Electronica DL Link...
In florida, my internet connection was comparable to dial-up. I've been waiting months for Jay Electronica to drop a new mixtape. The mixtape, "Victory," was released for free on the internet while I was in Florida. Now that I'm back on my grind at Sunrise, I am downloading it as I write. For those unfamiliar with Jay Electronica a brief summery would include the following points: 1) He's from Dallas, TX ,by way of LA. 2) His sound is Talib Kweli or Mos Def spitting over hipster hip-hop beats similar to those found on Kid Cudi, U-N-I, Cool Kids, or B.O.B. albums with a definate southern swagger. 3) He discusses anthropology, metaphysics, and other interesting topics on twitter instead of what kicks he's going to wear today or drinking crystal with Diddy. 4) He has a kid with Erykah Badu. 5) Most of all he's one of the most refreshing voices in Hip-Hop right now (That's Hip-Hop not cRAP). Similar Artist: Curren$y
That being said, I'm including the link to download the free mixtape "Victory." I'm writing this before I even hear it so I'm going out on a limb, but if it is anything like everything that came before it, then I'm sure it won't disappoint and I have nothing to worry about.

Vice Magazine...WTF

I saw this on Vice Magazine's website in the music reviews section today...surprisingly it received a smiley face instead of a throw up face. The same could not be said for Scarface and The Hold Steady. Use the link to see the original article - I reproduced it as best I could, however, I could not directly copy and paste it so I took a few liberties in PAINT to reproduce it. Enjoy!!!

6/7/2010 Star Bar
I was driving around today and I caught myself thinking about The Vortex. I remember sitting at the bar watching movies like "Zombie Strippers" and "Bad Taste" early in the evening before D.Clova took over the jukebox for the remaining hours. I know a lot of people are winding down from a long weekend at Free Press Summerfest and I myself am rather tired from a weekend of apartment rearranging due to loss of roommate. That being said, I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder, but tonight at Star Bar, I really just want to watch a movie and relax. This is not to say that I plan on doing this often or that there won't be music. As soon as the movie is over I'll play an old school D.A.N.C.E. Party style set focusing on indie, electro, and french music.
As for movies in the future, Ray Gregory has been hosting "Weird Movie Night" at The Hub on Sundays and Easy's has been showing a movie or two each month in its drive-in style theater (equipped with car seats). Basically, I want to give proper respect to those who are already showing movies in their venues and reiterate the fact that I do not plan on this becoming a regular Monday night thing, today just seemed like a good day for a movie.
You can find more information about Ray's "Weird Movie Night" on Facebook and I'm sure Gordon keeps everyone up to date on what is happening on the Easy's front.
I hope everyone had a great time at Summerfest and if you have any suggestions for a movie you'd rather see than "Evil Dead II" tonight, hit me up before I get out there...movie will start around 10is, music around midnight.
p.s. I was proofreading and it just hit me..."GUMMO" maybe?!?
